Report Web Demonstrations
Our examples below demonstrate how you can web enable your reports using version 8.0 of Crystal Reports and allow user input. (This technique is still valid for later versions although with version 8.5 you have all the added functionality of Crystal Enterprise.) Using the power and flexibility of the Web Component Server, you can view and process your reports over your intranet or across the web on a publicly visible web server. There are various report viewers you can use, so try these reports with the different viewers. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer we would recommend the ActiveX viewer, but if you are behind a firewall then the Java Viewer will work better. Dynamic CrosstabTo demonstrate a web page that allows the user to input their selection, you might like to have a look at our dynamic crosstab report. International UFLUser Function Libraries (UFLs) allow you to install a function into your copy of Crystal Reports. It will then be available in your Formula Editor to perform specific tasks. This UFL gives report headings in different languages, depending on the country you select. The idea behind our International UFL is to write one report, and have the title, column headings, font etc then change depending on which country you select. Here is a demonstration on how it can work and you can download a a copy of this demo here. A full copy which supports 1000 word dictionary, and a dictionary editor is available for $495 from our E-commerce site. Let us know if you'd like to add some more countries to the list. Employee Review by CountryThis report lets you select employees for Canada, UK or France. See how this looks by using the combo box below, or the other approach is to get your browser to ask the questions. It is the same rpt file. Use the refresh button to see how the browser asks a user for input. iQuote reports
From our iQuote estimating and quotation application,
here are two reports that demonstrate how to display
graphical elements on a Crystal report. (These reports have subreports and complex graphical components so notice the way the page builds) Random Music SelectorThis report accesses our music database and randomly selects 10 tracks for us to play. If you would like a different selection, just refresh the report by clicking the yellow lightning bolt. (This is a dynamic list, refreshing against the database each time you view the report) Drill down reportHere is an example of a web enabled drill down report. Drill down report with a chartHere is an example of a web enabled drill down report with a chart. You can double click on the employee and the month summary will appear below that. This reads Crystal Decisions Ltd sample Xtreme database via ODBC. |
