cViewSERVER
- Crystal Reports Scheduling Service
Latest Version October 2009 - Supports Windows
Vista and Crystal Reports 2008.
cViewSERVER is our advanced Crystal Report manager and
scheduler that runs as a .NET Windows Service.
You
can download a trial version that includes either the Crystal
Reports 2008 or Crystal Reports 10 run time files, depending on which
matches your environment.
cViewSERVER and cViewREMOTE requires Windows 2000 and above.
Current features included in cViewSERVER
include disk, file and printer output, date stamps in file names, multi
value parameters and list file processing.
Multirun processing is
also available and you can report off secure databases with the correct
password.
If you need the functionality of export
to csv or XML format, cViewSERVER can perform this in conjunction with
our GridUFL for csv or XMLUFL for XML export format.
- The cViewSERVER install includes the
cViewREMOTE administration utility which is the front-end to the
cViewSERVER Windows Service.
- The install gives you the
choice to install both the cViewSERVER scheduler and the cVIewREMOTE
administrator or just cViewREMOTE by itself.
- This means that you may purchase
just cViewREMOTE for another person or persons to remotely
administer the same cViewSERVER schedule.
These trial versions only support
five reports in your schedule whereas the full version supports an
unlimited number of reports. Other than the number of reports limit, these trial
versions have full functionality.

date will be removed.
cViewIMAGE-
Crystal Reports Image processing
cViewIMAGE enables you to take a database
field with an image file name and to include that image in your report.
The advantage is that you do not need to
store the images in a database. By storing the images in a folder, they
are easier to maintain.
cViewIMAGE uses a COM data driver to present the image in a ADO recordset.
Simply design a main report and then write a subreport using the COM
driver as a data source - it is available from the Database Expert
window.
Download the trial version to install
cViewIMAGE software on your machine.
Instructions:
Download the step by step
instructions for your version of Crystal Reports. These
instruction file include sample reports, database and images. Step by Step instructions on how to use
cViewIMAGE for
Do NOT install cViewIMAGE if you are running
Crystal Reports v8.0 or earlier. This is because the COM data source first appeared with Crystal
Reports v8.5 and will not work with versions prior to 8.5.
The new version now includes four
drivers to process image files. These now include the image dimensions and you can
retrieve an image from a web site. COM drivers for CR 8.5, CR9.0,
CR 10 and CR 11 are included in the install if you cannot see it in the
Database Expert window.
cViewHELP -
Combined help files
Several of our utilities share features and
interact together.
To make life simpler we have combined the help
pages for these programs into one set of interconnected help pages.
Unzip this attachment into your \Help subfolder.
The utilities in
this help file include cView, cViewMANAGER, cViewSERVER, cViewREMOTE, cViewLOG,
cViewACTIVATE, cViewBATCH, cViewCONNECT, cViewDASHBOARD and cViewSQL.
There is also information about the cViewPARTY system documentation.
There is no additional cost for this update
to your help files. This is a free download with no license file
requirements.
cViewSQL -
Database Utility
This database utility includes an easy to
use method for database update, import and extract.
cViewSQL tasks
can be scheduled using cViewMANAGER or cViewSERVER.
cViewTEXT-
Crystal Reports Text File processing
cViewTEXT enables you to take a database
field with a text file name and to include the text from that file in your report.
It uses a COM data driver to process the text in a ADO recordset.
The text file can be plain text, html or rich text. If you use
HTML or Rich Text, you can then format it using the Text Interpretation
feature.
Do NOT install cViewTEXT if you are running
Crystal Reports v8.0 or earlier because the COM data source first appeared with Crystal
Reports v8.5 and will not work with prior versions.
cViewPICK -
Crystal Reports Pick List
Update
cViewPICK will enable you to modify the
pick lists for some parameters in a folder full of Crystal Reports.
You can download a trial version that
includes Crystal Reports 8.5 or Crystal Reports 9 run time files.
Crystal Reports 9 is currently only supported for Windows 2000 and above.
Version 10 support will be available at a
later date.
Do NOT install cViewPICK if you are running
Crystal Reports 6.0 or earlier as you will no longer be able to edit your
reports.
User Function Libraries
(UFLs)
What are they?
When you install a User Function Library
(UFL) into your copy of Crystal Reports, it enables you to perform specific
tasks via the extra Functions it installs into "Additional Functions" in
the Formula Editor.
- You can use
the functions contained in the UFL like any other function in
Crystal Reports.
- Once the UFL is installed and
registered on your
machine, the functions appear in the Formula editor under "Functions
/ Additional
Functions"
- Depending on your version of
Crystal, they may appear in different places eg, they will
appear in COM and .NET UFLs (u212com.dll) for CR2008
- If you are running Crystal
Reports XI, they appear under Functions / Additional Functions /
Visual Basic (u2lcom.dll)
- In Crystal v8.5 and earlier, they appear under Additional Functions.
- If you send your report to another
user, they will also need the UFL installed on their machine.
Export structured data to multiple
files
Our Grid User Function Library
enables you to build a structured csv, Excel or text file while processing a Crystal
Report.
You create a grid work area and then can control what values
are stored in each column or row. You can also use this UFL in your report to export to csv format - this
report can then be scheduled in cViewSERVER to provide csv export
facilities.
XML output (Latest Version
December 2008)
Our XML User Function Library
enables you to create XML documents at the same time as you view a Crystal Report. As XML is becoming the
major standard for data interchange,
this is an easy way to add XML functionality to Crystal Reports.
This
library supports custom xml schemas, multiple xml document creation
and subreports. You can also use
this UFL in your report to export to XML format - this report can then
be scheduled in cViewSERVER to provide XML export facilities.
Version 2.0 improvements include extended
functions to eliminate duplicate records.
The trial
version is fully functional and adds a trial information tags
to each document header and has a limit of 50 records.
Save and retrieve data between reports
Our
Share User
Function Library allows
you to save data from one report and retrieve that data in a formula in
another report. The data is saved in an XML file using a simple xml
format you can use with other programs or even a text file editor.
Send emails from your report
Our SendMail User
Function Library allows
you to send email messages to the SMTP server during the processing of your Crystal Report. By using these
functions, multiple messages to different
addresses can be sent from within your report.
This library also
enables you to include file attachments in your email
HTML formatted messages including embedded
images in your email are also possible with this UFL.
The SendMail install files include our
cViewMAIL utility program which is also
available as a separate program. (This
was previously called the SMTP User Function Library. The Outlook
User Function Library is now obsolete because of changes made to Outlook
security.) The SendMail UFL and
cViewMAIL supports mail server authentication.
The version released
in June 2008 includes improved diagnostics.
International report development
Our International User Function Library allows you to design a report and
have it change report headings and content based on an international
resource file. The UFL supports an unlimited number of languages,
and includes a resource file editor. The trial version includes several languages and a sample report.
The trial is limited to a maxmimum of 5 words and phrases in each language
but the full version has no limit.
Our Text
Lookup User Function Library allows
you to search text documents and return individual lines or columns.
For
example, you may not have a database table with descriptions of your
codes. By creating a text file with those codes and descriptions, this UFL
will read the text file like a table. This avoids you needing to have
repeated if..then ..else in multiple formulas.
This means you could work around the lack
of a database table.
Output multiple disk files
Our Disk Output User Function Library allows
you to create multiple disk files and output them to different folders on
your network or local drive while processing a Crystal Report. You can
also create one or no disk file. If you need to email them to a remote
folder, see our SendMail User
Function Library
above. An extra feature of
this function is that you can conditionally output the disk file(s).
This is temporarily unavailable while it
is being updated
Read the
contents of the Registry
Our Registry User Function Library allows
you to retrieve user related Registry entries. It does not change them.
For example, you may retrieve the name
of the folder you are exporting to from HKEY_CURRENT_USER by writing
a formula
WhilePrintingRecords; GetRegCurrentUser ("Software\Crystal Decisions\10.0\Crystal Reports\Export","ExportDirectory")
You may also stop your report or send an
alert etc We do not currently have a free trial of
this product, but it may be purchased for US$49.97 and if it does
not do what you require, we will refund your purchase.
Output a disk file conditionally
Our Disk Output User Function Library allows
you to create a disk file conditionally while processing a Crystal
Report. An extra feature of
this function is that you can create multiple disk files - see above.
This is temporarily unavailable while it
is being updated
Manipulate disk files
Our File
Management User Function Library allows
you to manipulate disk file while processing a Crystal
Report. Functions include checking to see if a file exists, and you
can also delete,
rename or copy a file. This was
previously called the Disk File User Function Library.
