cViewHELP -
Combined help files
Several of our utilities share features and
interact together. To make life simpler we have combined the help
pages for these programs into one set of interconnected help pages.
Unzip this attachment into your \Help subfolder. The utilities in
this help file include cView, cViewMANAGER, cViewSERVER, cViewREMOTE, cViewLOG,
cViewACTIVATE, cViewBATCH, cViewCONNECT, cViewDASHBOARD and cViewSQL.
There is also information about the cViewPARTY system documentation.
There is no additional cost for this update
to your help files. This is a free download with no license file
requirements.
cViewSQL -
Database Utility
This database utility includes an easy to
use method for database update, import and extract. cViewSQL tasks
can be scheduled using cViewMANAGER or cViewSERVER.
cViewTEXT-
Crystal Reports Text File processing
cViewTEXT enables you to take a database
field with a text file name and to include the text from that file in your report.
It uses a COM data driver to process the text in a ADO recordset.
The text file can be plain text, html or rich text. If you use
HTML or Rich Text, you can then format it using the Text Interpretation
feature.
Do NOT install cViewTEXT if you are running
Crystal Reports v8.0 or earlier as the COM data source first appeared with Crystal
Reports v8.5 and will not work with prior versions.
cViewPICK -
Crystal Reports Pick List
Update
cViewPICK will enable you to modify the
pick lists for some parameters in a folder full of Crystal Reports.
You can download a trial version that
includes Crystal Reports 8.5 or Crystal Reports 9 run time files.
Crystal Reports 9 is currently only supported for Windows 2000 and above.
Version 10 support will be available later
in 2008.
Do NOT install cViewPICK if you are running
Crystal Reports 6.0 or earlier as you will no longer be able to edit your
reports.
User Function Libraries
(UFL)
When you install a User Function Library
(UFL) into your copy of Crystal Reports, it allows you to perform specific
tasks via the Formula Editor. You can use UFLs like any other function in
Crystal Reports. They appear in the formula editor under "Additional
Functions".
Export structured data to multiple
files
Our Grid User Function Library allows
you to build a structured csv or text file while processing a Crystal
Report. You create a grid work area and then can control what values
are stored in each column or row.
XML output (New Version
December 2008)
Our XML User Function Library allows
you to create XML documents at the same time as you view a Crystal Report. As XML is becoming the
major standard for data interchange,
this is an easy way to add XML functionality to Crystal Reports. This
library supports custom xml schemas, multiple xml document creation
and subreports. The trial
version is fully functional and adds a trial information tags
to each document header and has a limit of 50 records.
Version 2.0 improvements include extended
functions to eliminate duplicate records.
Save and retrieve data between reports
Our Share User
Function Library allows
you to save data from one report and retrieve that data in a formula in
another report. The data is saved in an XML file using a simple xml
format you can use with other programs or even a text file editor.
Send emails from your report
Our SendMail User
Function Library allows
you to send email messages to the SMTP server during the processing of your Crystal Report. By using these
functions, multiple messages to different
addresses can be sent from within your report. This library also
includes file attachments and HTML formatted messages including embedded
images.
The SendMail install files include our
cViewMAIL utility program which is also
available as a separate program. This
was previously called the SMTP User Function Library. The Outlook
User Function Library is now obsolete because of changes made to Outlook
security. The SendMail UFl and
cViewMAIL supports mail server authentication. New version (released
June 2008) includes improved diagnostics.
International report development
Our
International User Function Library allows you to design a report and
have it change report headings and content based on an international
resource file. The UFL supports an unlimited number of languages,
and includes a resource file editor.
The trial version includes several languages and a sample report. It
is limited to a maxmimum of 5 words and phrases in each language.
Lookup inside a text file
Our Text
Lookup User Function Library allows
you to search text documents and return individual lines or columns. For
example, you may not have a database table with descriptions of your
codes. By creating a text file with those codes and descriptions, this UFL
will read the text file like a table. This avoids you needing to have
repeated if..then ..else in multiple formulas.
Output multiple disk files
Our Disk Output User Function Library allows
you to create multiple disk files and output them to different folders on
your network or local drive while processing a Crystal Report. You can
also create one or no disk file. If you need to email them to a remote
folder, see our SendMail User
Function Library
above. An extra feature of
this function is that you can conditionally output the disk file(s).
Output a disk file conditionally
Our Disk Output User Function Library allows
you to create a disk file conditionally while processing a Crystal
Report. An extra feature of
this function is that you can create multiple disk files - see above.
Manipulate disk files
Our File
Management User Function Library allows
you to manipulate disk file while processing a Crystal
Report. Functions include checking to see if a file exists, and you
can also delete,
rename or copy a file. This was
previously called the Disk File User Function Library.
