There is an important issue you must consider with viewing
Crystal Reports on the web. If you are using Internet
Explorer, the default viewer uses an ActiveX report viewer. If you
have not already installed this with Crystal Reports 8.0, you
have to be able to download and run this component. Some people view the use of ActiveX components as a
potential security hole, so it is not permitted on some sites.
In addition, firewalls may not allow a component to be sent
through them.
If you want to view the reports, you'll either have to use
a different viewer or download the component manually. The
reports on our demo page have been set up so that you can see
how they look with different viewers.
It is possible to tie a particular viewer into a site and
pass that information via the URL, but on a public web site
like this demo it is important to give users the choice.
Report Viewers (Crystal
Reports 8.5 and later)
|
With Crystal Reports 8.5 and later the
delivery of web based reports uses Crystal Enterprise and ePortfolio. With this web report viewing can be done with DHTML and
therefore no web viewer client is required. Everything
is presented in html in the browser. |
